About Me
Hello and welcome...My name is Dawn M. West (Thomas) and if you are looking for a hard working and a honest individual with the passion for helping people, then you have found the right person.
I have over 8 years of experience in the Real Estate world, a Graduate of the Real Estate Institution (GRI Certified), I carry title of being a SRES (Senior Real Estate Specialist), an ABR (Accredited Buyers Representative) www.rebac.net/169036 , a member of the National Association of Realtors, Virginia Board of Realtors and the Hampton Roads Realtor Association. I am also a Signing Agent/NOTARY registered with the National Notary Assoc.~Certified and back ground checked AND I am also a Certified Property Valuator; Brokers Pricing Opinion on a subject property; What is the Value of a particular home, duplex, etc.
I was personally "stung" by a Real Estate Agent in my first transaction as a Consumer/First time home buyer and was very happy to learn as much as I could about the Real Estate world; knowing that I could provide much better services then what I had received as a consumer! I have since then, gained over 520 hours of Real Estate education training both in the State of Maryland and Virginia and I stand ready to serve your real estate needs.
I have been with William E. Wood and Associates since I relocated back to Norfolk over 4 years ago and it has been an excellent catalyst to my future success...,
I was born in the Tidewater area (a "Navy brat") and I decided to relocate back here.... "home" after being away for 16 years.
For the Norfolk folks: My Birth name is Dawn Marie Lyon; I graduated from Norview in 1985 with a business diploma, I was a newspaper girl in the Bayview/Ocean View area for over 5 years, I worked at the old Pollards Chicken that was on Bayview Blvd., Worked at Be-lo's (now known as Fresh Pride) located on the corners of Chesapeake Blvd. and Fishermans Road. In 1987, I moved up North to attend College in New Jerseyto get my Associate Degree in Human Resources,Dental Assisting and attended numerous college classes at the University of Delaware on Business ownership......Today, my Son, Christopher AKA. "George", 21 years old, has his own "pad" here in Ocean View and for the past few years, has worked with my husband, Philip West, Jr. @ Ben Forsythe Caulking, Inc. Christopher use to milk cows @ Kilby's Dairy Farm in Colora Maryland when he was 14 and has worked ever since....marina work, deli store, cook and now construction after he graduated from Granby High and Norview High.
After a few years of dating, On June 9th, 2007, I joined hands with the greatest guy in the world, an old high school friend, Philip H. West, Jr. who also is a Navy brat, native of Norfolk and has worked with Ben Forsythe Caulking, Inc. for over 14 years! Both of our parents are from the Philadelphia, PA area.
Let's just put it this way, I have been working since I was 12 years of age in Customer Service, communications and marketing and I simply can say that I love my career, my family, my life and my town! Ohhhh and my babies, Zodie, a Shelter-ranian, my sun conyour birds, Mango and Peaches, love birds, Trinity and Neo, my cats, George, Pee-Wee and Miss Tara."wooow" do I have some critters....lol" .
My loves are gardening, dining, friends, snorkling, tent camping, fishing and my main love is cooking/entertaining.
My past careers included working for Dupont (Quorium Litigations) as a litigation processor in 1992, Owner (Vice President) of a Dental and Medical Employment Agency called D & M Staffing, Inc. for 5 years (1993-1998). I was a Certified Expanded Dental Assistant for 13 years and Past President of the Delaware Dental Assistant Association for three years. A few years back, before and during my first two years in real estate, I was President, Controller, Secretary and Treasurer for my former husband's family owned business that provided services to over 900 customers in a census of 92,000 population(1999 -2004) - Thomas Oil Services, Inc.; located in Cecil County Maryland.
