Raised in a Navy family, Dora Lee understands relocation! Her son Brett, a former High School Honor Roll student at Norfolk Academy and graduate of the University of Virginia, works for a consulting firm in Northern Virginia. On Nov. 3, 2009 he and wife Lauren made Dora Lee a Grandmommy to Hannah Grace Shomaker. Dora Lee has lived in the Tidewater area since 1983, enjoyed sailing the Chesapeake Bay and a competitive game of racquetball and now enjoys an occasional game of golf. Active in the community, she volunteers many hours and talents as a Circle Member of the Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters. Dora Lee actively supports the community in its efforts to raise funds and awareness for our local area children and adult AIDS victims, Child Abuse Center, and many other worthy causes. Dora Lee has also served as a Board Member and Officer of Community Alternatives Management Group and Community Alternatives Inc., non-profit organizations which provide housing, training, and employment for mentally and physically challenged adults in the Tidewater area. Dora Lee is also on the Advisory Board to the non-profit Park Place School, which provides unique and specialized education and education therapy in reading, writing, and arithmetic to “at risk” children in Norfolk. She has volunteered as a mediator helping to resolve disputes through mediation and served as an Officer on the Board of Trustees of the Better Business Bureau’s Dispute Settlement Center.
